As your mayor, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Incorporated Village of Valley Stream’s website. On behalf of myself, the village board, village justice and the entire village staff, we hope you will enjoy this site and learn all about our lovely village and what Valley Stream has to offer its citizens. Established in 1853, and incorporated in 1925, Valley Stream is a close-knit community located in southwest Nassau County. “On the trail of the Rising Sun” was the motto selected by our founding fathers. One can only guess that they saw the bright promise of our beautiful community as settlers moved eastward from the boroughs of New York City to make our village their home. Valley Stream is conveniently located to many of the region’s best attractions. The city is a mere thirty minute drive or train ride away, yet Valley Stream is a suburban community in the most honest sense of the word.

Valley Stream’s Henry Waldinger Memorial Library is a busy center of learning for adults and children alike, offering books, movies and interesting programs. Home of 105 acres of parkland that affords village residents a plethora of recreational opportunities, there is undoubtedly something for everyone here. From baseball, football and soccer fields, miniature golf and a fantastic, state-of-the-art community pool complex, sports and recreational opportunities abound. Our beautiful Village Green provides a stunning backdrop for outdoor concerts all summer long. Valley Stream truly has it all! Our village is also rich in community spirit, with a strong civic consciousness exhibited by numerous community groups including a visionary Historical Society, an active Chamber of Commerce, a first-rate Volunteer Fire Department, a diligent Civilian Patrol and an Auxiliary Police organization, just to name a few. Our residents also benefit from energetic youth and senior groups, represented by the Youth Council and the Silver Threads.

We are proud of our village and what it offers to its over 40,000 residents.
