In May of 2019 Mayor Edwin Fare organized a Community and Economic Development team to harness special skill sets, experience, and professional networks of Village staff for the betterment of the entire Village. This team is dedicated to researching, advising, and implementing opportunities which enhance the economy of our community while also improving the quality of life. Residential Rehabilitation

The Village of Valley Stream Community and Economic Development Dept. is pleased to offer Community Development Block Grant funds for income eligible senior citizens age 60+ and/or handicapped persons for home repairs, energy conservation, and remediation of code violations and to make handicap accommodations for homes in the Village of Valley Stream. Funding is available only to homeowners who have lived in their homes to be improved for a minimum of one (1) year, who meet income guidelines and are current in the payment of Nassau County and Village of Valley Stream taxes. 

Applications will be accepted on a first come/first serve basis. The Village of Valley Stream Community and Economic Development Dept. will conduct pre-screening. Qualified applicants will be recommended to the Nassau County Office of Community Development who will formally administer the Residential Rehabilitation Program. Please apply by filling out the pre-application form and returning it to the Village of Valley Stream.

Pre-Seed and Seed Matching Fund Program (NYVPSSF)

The Program will offer early-stage businesses growth assistance from $50,000 up to $250,000 with matching from the private sector (there must be at least $1 of private sector investment for every $1 NY Ventures invests).

PSEG Long Island Vacant Space Revival Grant

Eligible businesses can receive incentives to occupy vacant spaces and breathe new life into struggling business districts.

National Grid Cinderella Economic and Community Development Program

The Cinderella Program provides grants to non-profit development corporations to offset the costs of affordable mixed-use housing and commercial redevelopment
