Mission Statement
The mission of the Valley Stream Beautification Committee is to enhance quality of life and promote community pride by working to improve and create new public landscapes. The Committee will identify areas in need of improvement, develop and implement applicable projects, recruit volunteers and secure funding resources to achieve its goals. Volunteer members who comprise this group are committed to working collaboratively with Village departments and administrators to fulfill this mission. Committee members will provide leadership and guidance in matters of community design and appearance to the Village of Valley Stream. The goal of the Committee is to improve and create places our community can be proud of and to motivate the Village’s diverse population to participate in the beautification process.

2) Native Planting at Hendrickson Park - organized and implemented by Beautification Committee volunteer Rebecca Vargas, this native planting is an example of utilizing plants that are a part of our local environment to create beauty and ecological value. We thank ReWild Long Island for maintaining this Native Planting.
3) Arlington Orchard - the orchard incorporates the beauty and value of fruit trees into an active recreation area.
4) Litter Cleanup - volunteer events where committee members, students, and neighbors tackle litter in areas throughout our community. This helps prevent litter from making its way to our storm drains, streams, bay, and oceans. For more information on Valley Stream's efforts to prevent pollution from entering our storm drains please visit Storm Water Reports
5) Painted Manhole Pilot Program - this pilot program seeks to establish public art in a creative way that engages pedestrians and attracts people to our downtown.
6) Holiday Lights Map - find a Google map with a growing list of where people put up holiday lights each year in December.
